Time Change Instructions

What is the issue?

For Windows 2000 PC and below, non-updated XP systems, and older telephone systems, the wrong time can lead to incorrect time stamps on system files and or email.

The wrong system time may result in incorrect routing of telephone calls during the opening or closing time of your business, improper message playing during these same times and/or incorrect message receipt time stamp for any left message.

Why is this not automatic?

Our newest systems are automatic and can use the latest stored daylight savings time calendars or sync with US Naval Observatory Master Clock Time. Yet, some older systems are not compatible with recent changes to daylight savings times standards. Telephone systems with custom design may require manual time adjustment. Some telephone systems maintain separate clocks for the telephone system (phone display time) and the voice mail system time.

Time change process by system type

Windows desktops, servers and PC based Voice Mail Windows 2000 and lower require a manual time change. Windows XP just requires application of the latest updates. Windows Vista will update automatically.
