Battery Backup
Don't depend on electrical power always being there.
Areas surrounding Richmond, Virginia have suffered frequent power outages from winter ice storms and summer hurricanes. All Iwatsu telephone systems allow for direct battery connection. Make and receive calls with the lights out! The Iwatsu power supply also provides power for DC input routers by www.adtran.com and others.

Other models of telephone systems (PBX) require you to use a 3rd party UPS (uninterruptible power supply) such as that used on a computer server.
How do both backup systems compare?
The 3rd party UPS plugs into an AC outlet to convert your power utilities 120 VAC to 12-24VDC to charge tiny batteries internal to the UPS. The tiny DC batteries then power an internal converter that converts it back to 120VAC. This appears on an AC outlet in the back of the UPS. The telephone system takes this 120VAC power and converts it right back to DC to power the PBX electronics. These 3 power conversions are inefficient. A 24 hr backup UPS would cost over $3000.00.
The Adix batteries switch on upon utility power failure.Just another reason why Iwatsu's trademark is "Legendary Reliability."
